IQ is really not a good indicator of success. Neither financially, nor by Darwinian standards.
Is there any correlation of IQ to financial success after average or high average IQ? I have never really seen one myself. I mean yeah, people with an IQ of 80 tend to not be rich unless they inherited it, or are actors, or professional athletes, but once you hit 100+ is there really much of a difference in financial worth?
Actually there is a proven and undeniable correlation between IQ and income (obviously with higher IQ tending towards higher IQ) that carries right on up until IQ becomes effectively unmeasurable. There is also a similar correlation between IQ and higher education and higher education and income. Gee, what are the odds of all that?
The reason you haven't "seen" it is because it isn't something you can directly perceive because you have to have mass, unbiased, numbers to see it, not a few anecdotes. You only get those numbers through proper studies, not through living your life.
That being said, these correlations in no way equate to any individual being a success or failure based on their IQ (or education) alone. On average the set of people with IQ's of 130-140 will make more money than the set of people with IQ's of 100-110, but of any two individuals chosen at random, one from each of those sets, the higher IQ individual will have a higher income only about 6 times out of 10, and the difference will not necessarily be particularly significant.
