TERRIBLE Logitech Customer Service!!!!

I just wanted to make a quick post here with my recent (and still ongoing) experience with Logitech customer support.

My Logitech z-680 speakers developed a pretty bad hum/hiss and so I called Logitech about the problem and they told me to send in my control pod and they'd send me a new one. Fair enough. So about mid March I sent in my control pod. I called logitech after seeing they'd recieved my package and they told me they no longer make the z-680 speaker system anymore and so they where sending me a new set of the z-5500's. So I was ok with this as these speakers should be as good if not slightly better than my z-680's. They quoted me 1-2 weeks to recieve my new speakers.

To make a long story short, I'm currently still waiting for my speakers. Its been about 2.5 months now. I just got off the phone with a CSR and was told that the earliest they'd get a shipment in would be the middle of June. So by the time I get my speakers back it'll have been a MINIMUM of 3.5 months. I just cannot believe this....I didn't realize that I would be out of my computer speakers for more than a quarter of a year...and that's if they actually send my speakers in June. With their track record so far I wouldn't be surprised if its even longer.

I've been in communication with several other people in my EXACT same situation (about 10 or so other people). And a CSR told one of these people there are over 400 other people waiting for their z-5500 speakers as well. The part that makes me really upset is that if you check their sales website...they have the speakers in-stock. However...I've been told that they can't send out "those" speakers because they are from the sales department. Obviously keeping existing customers isn't as important as getting new ones.

Anyways...sorry for the rant but I just can't believe how long I've been without speakers now and I think other people should know about crappy customer service like this when it happens.

That's cool that they are replacing the speakers with newer ones, but ouch @ the wait time. That would definitely drive me insane. Good luck.

yeah, I rma'd my Z-5500's about a month ago. That just seems to be the time when they are getting speakers in, mines supposed to ship on the 15th too. Its not really crappy customer service as you never really had any problems talking to people (atleast I never did) it's just extremely inefficient.

Well...I guess it just depends on how you define customer service. I was referring to the whole rma/replacement process. As far as help over the phone goes...I never had a problem with any of the rep's I talked with. I just thought that 3.5+ months without having my speakers was pretty bad but maybe I'm mistaken. Is it fairly common to wait this long for a product replacement? I have certainly not. I can understand 2-3 weeks...even if it stretched to 6-8 weeks I wouldn't be thrilled but would understand. But it will have been over 14 weeks for me and that's IF they ship out my speakers when they are hoping to.

hmm this is weird. I had to RMA my keyboard and logitech told me to throw out the old one and i'd have a new one in 7 - 10 days. Turns out I got the keyboard only 2 days later!

I can't complain I guess you just have bad luck.

I hope it all gets resolved quickly.

I've also been waiting for over two months for a replacement for my defective Z-5500s, and am in contact with bobn4burton and the other people he mentioned.

The big problem is that Logitech seems to think that they can wait as long as they want by not telling their sales call center people what's going on - that way, they can honestly tell the customer that they have no clue, and there's nothing that can be done about it.

I would be more understanding of whatever internal problems Logitech may be experiencing if I had some details about what's going on. They're not saving any face by keeping customers in the dark at this point.

I've been waiting about 3 months also. I have z 680 system. But the problem is with my woofers blowing out 2 channels. Pod and speakers are fine. They better be doing EXTENSIVE quality control if its taking this long. I'll give it another month then I'm getting refund and getting some klipsch's

No worries:
1. We just want to get the word out in hopes that it will convince Logitech to give end-users a higher priority as far as customer satisfaction and obligations go.
2. Our frustration (and occasional anger) is directed solely at Logitech and not at you guys who are kind enough to let us use your forum to spread the word, nor at our fellow consumers whom we're trying to inform of this tragic situation.

So...yeah :)

For the record...I was actually VERY pleased with the service I got up to the point it started dragging out for months...

I should have probably been a little more specific in my title as I believe Logitech generally has pretty good service...but they have had some problems in the last 6 months with the z-5500/z-680 line of speakers getting them out to customers in a timely manner.

So its kind of a bitter-sweet situation because I THINK this is just an isolated problem with their z-5500 speakers and most of their other products would probably recieve great customer service...

Unfortunately I just happen to be in the z-5500 camp:(

ahh i see so basically everyone who has those specific speakers has been getting the shaft. I feel really bad that sucks I was going to go buy a pair of their 5.1 speakers the other day. I still probably will, but I hope your issue gets resolved. I'd think that logitech's production of hte speakers is either delayed or they're trying to get a final solution to the issue as it seems multiple people are having the same one.

I have to rma my mx700 it seems to not like to take the charge even with new batteries. O well hopefully it wont be too bad

Just make sure that if you buy their high-end models, to get the Z-5500d and not the Z-5500 or Z-680.

Ah reminds me of the Z-560 fiasco...

What everyone learned from that is: Logitech will run you in circles and your speakers will probablly take at least 3 months to get to you.

End of story, I bought some Klipsch Promedia's and sold the Z-560s when I finally recieved them back from Logitech. 4 months
