Teredo?

So my 3 Win 7 machines (and when they had Vista) all (via UPnP) forward ports on my router and are labeled "Teredo".

Googling has lead me to believe this is to do wtih IPv6 which I need enabled to use Homegroups. I'm not concerned, I'm just wondering if anyone can shed some more light on why my Windows 7 machines are all forwarding these ports.

Also, I can't turn off UPnP, apparently RDP doesn't work if I do even though I have port 3389 forwarded manually.

Here is a cropped screenshot of my routers port forwarding screen:

netsh interface teredo>set state type=client servername=0:0:0:0:0:0:0:1

Should work for windows 7. Should, being the key word here. IPV6:Worst security risk ever. (no, not really)

I ran that and it seemed to work. Didn't throw any errors so...

I'm guessing this will stop Teredo from opening ports on its own?

I'll report back if it worked.

Glad I could help out. You should also set state disabled and uncheck it in the local area connection properties box. Just whisper there is no place like 127.0.0.1 three times and that should do it.

Like I said though, I need ipv6 enabled to use Homegroups so I can't disable it.

Much thanks though, so far so good.
