Terabyte enclose problem

I was suckered into paying $800 for LaCie's terabyte drive ~2yrs ago (4x250GB Seagate drives, IDE) and I think the enclosure or the controller card inside crapped out from a power outage. My fault for not plugging it into the surge protector, I guess.

I'm trying to recover data on the drives, if possible. If that fails then just recovering the drives would be nice, I should be able to salvage most, if not all.

Problem is its RAID 0, which I'm not too smart about. First guess is to try to plug them into the IDE ports on my mobo and create a spanned volume in Disk Management without reformatting it. I'm thinking it can't be as simple as that though. Won't I need software RAID drivers? Guessing those would be on the Windows CD. Also, it is two partitions if that makes any difference, so I'm not sure if that would cause a problem assigning drive letters.

So my questions are, is RAID 0 recoverable at all, and if so, can anyone give me some ideas on the best way to attempt it?
 
If a drive died, there is almost no chance of recovery. Beyond that it's hard to know what's going to happen with them. Some controllers use a fairly standard implementation, some don't.
 
I have used the getdataback product to recover a really messed up RAID5 (the backplane, hotspare, raid card, and parity drive all died when the PSU did). I was able to image the 2 good drives I had, load them up into their software and get my data back. It'd be worth giving a try, but you'll need A LOT of space to recover that 1TB. If it was all in use, you'll need double the space.
 
Hmm, will have to try getdataback sometime.Don't have 2TB of space for this project :) most of it was in use. I'll snag that for a rainy day though. Got impatient and went ahead and took the drives out, made them all single drives. All 4 still work fine, although I've got one plugged in right now and it feels hot enough to melt through my desk...

Would have liked to try swapping with another enclosure but got nothing around here. Not really that important because most of the data was backed up, but would have been more fun to be able to fix it.
