ok so how does one back up large amounts of data like a 500 gig to tarabyte. easiest and cheapest
 
ebay.... get a DLTIV drive and a bunch of tapes... for $200 i got adaptec ultra160 with a Dell DLT iV and 20 tapes. Takes a long time, but once it is done... it is done .

A tape library of some kind would definitely be your best option. Unless you like to look at very large stacks of CDs.
 
man i wish i could afford a library... manually changing 16 tapes sux!

A good library such as http://www.quantum.com/am/products/atl/m1500/default.htm or something similar, around 5 to 10 tape slots should do you with a high compacitie tape such as lto2. Backups are one thing not to cheap out on, but don't overspend either, do researh on tape library's and see what you find out. We use lto tapes at my work and never had a problem with them.

Whatever you to stay AWAY from nctp drives and tapes, they really and i mean really suck, nothing but media errors
