I get 49C processor (barton 2500+) and 33C system temp while running FAH. Is this too hot?
 
No. AMD procs can go up in the upper 70's and lower 80's. Trust me, I've had this happen when I had shitty cooling and a hot summer in my dually. As long as your computer is stable, you are fine. 49C under load is a good temp.

Is the system temp fine? Because I read in PC World that 33C and up is bad for the HD.

Really didn't give a lot of info there... Are you overclocked? How much, what ya got for cooling? What is your average room temp?

My amd64 3400 runs at 35C when folding usually, so does my p4 3.0. Both systems water cooled.
 
I'm not overclocked, got one intake one PS exaust and stock CPU cooling. Room is 68F.

I read PC World, when I'm alone and out for lunch or diner, its good for a few laughs. ComputerPowerUser and MaximumPC are about the only rags worth reading anymore, read them at work when you don't have anything better to do. Can't go around laughing too much at work, that's a sure give away! Actually, I find "The Screen Savers" on TechTV more entertaining than any rag. Funny and informative. If you want the straight dope in a timely manner, you've got to go to the 'net. The sites I spend most of my time at (aside from the pr0n sites) are; [H]ardOCP of course, Kyle, Steve & the gang keep us abreast of what's going on, along with the most hard hitting, unbiased and in depth reviews any where. Overclockersdotcom, Ed has a unique insight on the industry with lots of OC related details and the OC database. Anandtechdotcom, Anand has the most thorough and wide-ranging coverage of the industry. Of course, there are many other great sites, these are just the ones I read everyday. As for your heat levels, it seems like you have a pretty much stock boxen. You'll probably need more cooling if you want to really put that Barton to the test though. If you want a simple and easy solution I'd say try a Koolance EXOS. It gets the heat out of your case and you won't have to worry about any more case fans. You could add a NB cooler as well, get even more heat out of the case. Keep on folding, we need all our cycles to stay in the lead!

I'm no expert by any means, but I would say that you need a bit more cooling. Perhaps one of the better heat sinks with good fan would solve your problem, or you might consider cutting a blow hole in the top of the case with a good 120mm fan for exhaust, and having the two fans you have now bring in outside air.

Another thought might be to pull your heat sink off, clean things up and reaply a good thermal paste and reseat the heat sink. Lapping the heat sink might also be in the cards.

Your not in the danger area at 49C on your system, but you could improve those temps from 8 to 10 degrees easily with some better air flow. You might even want to consider water cooling if the noise bothers you.

A nice Danger Den Maze 3 or 4 water block or a WhiteWater coupled with a good 150 gal per hour or better pump using 1/2" tubing could do wonders for your temps. Such a system would cost you from $125 to $175 depending on how good a shopper you are and can be either external or internal. If your case is a mini tower without a lot of room an external would work great and easily transfered to another computer later.

Jesus christ man, he's not overclocking to 2.8ghz... You have perfectly fine cooling. Don't worry about the temps.

Well jeez forgive me for breathing. If you bother to notice, I didn't tell him his system was on the verge of melting. As a matter of fact I said he was in no danger, then gave him a few options that he might want to consider both in air or water. If he wants to leave it exactly as is that is his choice.

I would rather have my systems cool rather than hot. If all I have to do is replace a heat sink or lap a heat sink and reaseat to get better, then I am willing to do a little bit of work. Go ahead and run at 49C all you want, I'd rather run at 35C.
