Temps Too High?

I have:

Abit IC7-G
2.8C @ stock speeds
Zalman 7000 AlCu
AS5

my temps are 45 C idle, and around 55 C load

that seems kinda high to me
 
its running at 35 or so, the ic7 reports 10-15 c higher
 
I did a little reading and it seems that a lot of people have the problem with the IC7 series reporting higher temps.

Is there a fix?
Or a way to get an accurate reading?

Rule of thumb is 10 degrees cooler than what BIOS/Abit EQ tells you. They posted it in FAQ and on their forums.

I kinda like having the temps 10 degrees off because it makes me work hard on getting my PC cool :D

I see you have the same cooler I do - what are your temps?
 
I have a decent cooling system, I actually just cut a hole in my case tonight making a total of 6 case fans. This is after a good load, but my room temps must have been real low, cause I am back to 29C SYS, 41C CPU, and 30C PWM.

Cools capacitor and grabs some excess CPU heat. Cool invention.

Yes that is very cool.. I shoulda got a Max3 instead of my poor old Max 2:p


About Abit boards reading temps ~10C too high:

Do they just read temps too high in the bios, or would the temps be too high in Abit EQ as well (ie, does the temp sensor on the mobo just read too high?)

Does it just read the CPU temp too high, or are all effected?



I have a 2.8 @3.4 with a SP-94 and a Tornado, and Abit EQ says my CPU temp is 38-48 (Idle-Load) when the case temp is about 31. Does this really mean my temps are 28-38 and 21?

Whoops, my question has already been aswered. But does this effect all temps or just CPU?

The CPU temp is the only one that seems to be off by such a great degree. The SYS temps seem to be a little more respectable. I would say they are on, or maybe 1 to 3 degrees to high. I dont know forsure.
