temps PWM? NB?

Just curious how the northbridge temps affect ocing the cpu. If anyone has experience please let me know. Been gettin temps in the 65c range.

also been wondering what the shiz PWM means. My Abit UGURU PWM temp is hittin 74c! GDDAMN! Im suprised smoke isnt coming out.

the temps matter soo much i im sinking my mosfets and pwm for the north and south bridge... im replacing those sinks

gonna get both of those and chop up my north bridge heat sink and use the pices for mosfets... then i think im going to epoxy the south bridge heat sinks onto my sata controller chipset... then ill be happy.. if you need cheep mosfet/pwm sinks

PWM stands for Pulse Width Modulator. It's the thing that controls the power going to your CPU. At higher loads and/or higher voltages, it's not uncommon for the PWM temperature to exceed the CPU temperature. As long as your CPU temps are ok, I wouldn't worry too much about the PWM (unless it's insanely hot, like 100C).

hot mosfet/pwm=unstable voltage for cpu
 
I just got a temp of 81c on the PWM my god! Thats with just a light oc from 3.4 to 3.8. This is an enermax silent ps. Would getting a better ps help keep this temp down? Maybe? I am considering watering the nb but dont know if i should put it in a seperate pump/loop than the cpu, any idea?

On the Giga-Byte boards I notice they have an active cooling sytem for power? is this related to the issue Im having and does anyone think its worth dropping the Abit 925x AA8 board for Gbyte 925x board? Any experiences with that board would be appreciated.

While that is accurate, the PWM has pretty high standards as to what is "hot." While high temps on anything can be a bother, I would say not to worry unless you're having some kind of issue.

As a side note, some Abit boards have issues with the PWM temp probe being close to the CPU socket and absorbing the heat from both. The
ABIT knowledge base article about it specifically mentions the KD7, but I'm sure there are others involved as well. I used to have an IS7 where the PWM read a little higher than the CPU, but I had upped the voltage slightly and my airflow was far from optimal. Other than that, though, there weren't any issues.
