Temps are lower after overclock...

Alright with the rig in my signature, on a stock Intel cooler, I was getting a Idle around 44-48 and a load 60 about. Now after I bumped the FSB to 250 with stock CPU voltages still. My idle temps are around 38 and my load is 68. Can this be right? I know the load is probably right but the idle temps? Why are they lower now after I overclocked? Shouldnt they be higher?

When I first put it to a 250FSB I made the fan run at max RPM's(which is 2600 RPMs about) all the time as I thought the temps would be to high on a stock cooler, since it is a Intel Processor. When I did this, I had a idle of around 38-40. I had no problem with that, except it was kinda louder than before. So after 2 hours, put the fan back on normal settings. Now I still get the idle temps or 38 or so. Is this right? Did the thermal pad that came on the heatsink kick in better now, with a overclock or something? Fan is now running at about 1500 rpms also.

Yeah you are either mistaken or faulty sensor. They cant drop after being overclocked. That wouldnt make sense. CPUs get hotter with being overclocked, not cooler.....

Yeah I know, that is what I said. I dont know what to say of this. Should I be worried my temps are to high. It still runs really well and everything. Cold air is actually coming out from the 120mm fan blowing out in the back of my case....

If it's crashing you can worry

if it's running fine and dandy, pat yourself on the back.

they CAN drop :p ive experienced it...

Mine heated up VERY fast, i shut it down and let it cool (had been P95ing) and when i booted back up it was a LOT cooler (im assuming the TIM shifted and made better contact or something...

Yep that is my take of it.

don't believe software ;)

many motherboards show a lower temp after rebooting.

seconded

Heatsink paste etc. does bed in faster at higher temps especially when allowed to heat up then cool.
The temps have now dropped but it is likely what happened.
