It's been a few years since I've needed to make a website, and at no point was I ever amazing at it. I do know how to read/edit HTML, and a bit of Java.

For my current project, I'm helping a professional colleague who needs a simple non-transactional website. I'll likely use whatever host he is already using but dump some clean looking pages in there. I was planning using MS Frontpage, as I have used that before.

Can anyone recommend some nice templates to use? I think the key here is that they are not overly complex to work on - as I'd like to focus on getting the content right, SEO, some light site analytics with Google, and being able to "hand over the keys" after a week or two of development.

Appreciate any help

please, for the love of all that the web holds holy, do not use Frontpage!

May I recommend looking into Wordpress? It comes with many great free templates if he has a decent web host chances are you can install it using their cpanel.

Haha, ok ok - no Frontpage. My roomette has Expressions which I installed, seems definitely better than Frontpage.

themeforest.net looks awesome. So I'll be looking a few templates, but for instance this one come's with PSD's of entire pages. Could anyone clue me in on why you would need that? I must be pretty out of date, but I would only think you need PSD's of each logo/icon - or does the XHTML call the entire page up? Very confused on that front, but perhaps it's not about the page rendering at all. Appreciate any info there.

Designers use photoshop to layout pages (which might not actually be reproducible in HTML/CSS that can be rendered by all browsers). If they're done properly, all of the relevant graphical elements should be easy to isolate on a layer & cut out.
