Temperature shut down

Does anyone know the reason temperature monitoring shuts down when cores are unlocked?
Isn't this counterproductive to sales at this point? Shouldn't AMD be making every effort to make people feel good about their purchase?
Just sayin' ..

1) Because the point behind the "locked" cores is not so people can pay dual core prices for a quad, its to sell a chip they would otherwise throw in the trash...

2) Probably something to do with the temp sensor not working with the other cores(the "bad" ones).....the sensors are probably calibrated with two/three cores, so using it with 4 cores would skew the data.

Seems a flaw to me.
All cores have the temperature sensor, How hard would it be to make it independent of core unlock.
Peple buy these chips for what they are/what they might be, its inherent in the unlocked possibility.
Just, why not just leave the original core temps available?

There is only one temp sensor on the Phenom II Architecture......

dont see the point to what? The sensor not working?

The sensor is in the middle of the chip, its calibrated (for arguments sake, take a 550 as the example chip) to the temperature emitted from 2 cores, not 4. So 4 cores would have a bad reading anyhow.....

Then I really do not see the point.

the point is that AMD doesn't support the unlocking.. they don't give a crap that the motherboard manufactures do, its a selling point for those companies. so why would AMD change their production line just to make a couple people happy that the temp sensors work. thats nothing going to happen, its common sense. if you are having a problem with your motherboard shutting the system off due to the temp sensor showing the wrong temp then turn off your temp protection in the motherboard settings.. hmm maybe that would require common sense...

i mean really i could go into the exact reasons why the temp sensor stops working when you unlock but its honestly not worth my time. just turn off the dang temp protection in the bios and just use the socket sensor to monitor your cpu temps.
