Temperature Sensor

I have two temp sensors that came with my case. The computer was built by monarchcomputer and they put one of the sensors on the top of the hard drive and the other on the side of the gfx opposite of the heatsink. Are these the best places to have them?

I have my ram and my cpu oced so monitoring the temp of either one of those would be more important than the hdd. Where should I put it to monitor the cpu temp?

Also, the temp in the software based Nvidia control panel says the gfx is idling at 54c while the hard wired temp sensor says 46c. Is that just temps in the different places?

Nvidia control panel will be reporting the actual core temps, the probe temp will be alot lower. Those are fine places for them, but you can change their locations at will.
