Temperature Problem

Good evening guys,

I currently have an AMD 64 3000+ on a Foxconn NF4K8MC-EKRS motherboard. The problem comes when I try to read the temperature with either SpeedFan or Everest. What happens is that the temperature would jump around quickly, from 38, 50, 8, 48, 27, 52 etc.

I also just installed a new cpu cooler (the Zalman Ulstra Quiet CPU Coller CNPS9500 LED) and it's still doing the same. Also, my CPU was overclocked to 2ghz, but even changing it back to the stock speed (1800mhz) it still does the random jump.

Was wonder what the problem was.

Thanks.

If you overclocked it without increasing the voltages the chances are that it will decrease the the traffic and the heat and therefore decrease the temp.

Install a newer version of the bios and try a few other programs which can monitor temp but it will most likely be a bios fix.

I tried out this Central Brain Identifier, and it gives me a solid reading. Is this app 'trustworthy'?

its not a matter of trustworthy, they (monitoring programs) display the data they are told to.
Are you sure the temp you are now seeing is actually the cpu temp?

The names given to sensors sometimes are wrong.
I cant help you locate a program that definitely will read the right sensor, maybe someone here uses the same motherboard.
Hopefully the initial readings you were getting arent due to a fault and are just the wrong sensor being monitored.

Thanks for the reply.

My CPU has a temperature reader on it and I think that CBI (Central Brain Identifier) is reading that because it gives me a solid reading. It also goes up when I run CPU intensive apps.

Anyone know an app that just reads the temp reader on the CPU maybe? (AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Venice)
