My computer was not having any serious temperature issues before. However, when i put the temperature gague (in between my cpu and heatsink) problems started occuring.It overheats very rapidly and too high till th epoint where it shuts down. Is this because the guge is blocking the heat transfer between the cpu and hsf, or is it somehting else?
 
so, if i were to add more arctic silver would this make the matter even worse? Or should i just take the thermometer out.
I guess what my real question is...
How can i keep the thermometer in there wihtout having it interfere with my temps?
 
I think the only way to do it would be to CNC the bottom of the heatsink within a baby-hair thickness for the thermometer. So, in other words, ya can't do it. Sorry to be the messenger of bad news.

Hey, You should JB weld it to the heatsink ON TOP (like in oe the grooves) of the heatsink.

Yeah, so, Too much thermal paste is bad. You are dealing with .001's of an inch here.
