I just got done installing a Q9550 into my abit ip35-pro. The first thing I fired up was coretemp that showed 98 degrees centigrade, I double checked with speedfan, and both showed high 90's so I shut down and replaced my older freezer 7 pro with a newer freezer 7 Pro. Booted up and l dl'd realtemp for good measure and looked at all 3. All 3 show a pretty big swing

SF= 98 degrees
CT= 34 degrees
RT= 24 degrees

Which one of these is correct? I think Speedfan is wrong because I made sure there was a thin layer of arctic silver and the freezer 7 was attached firmly.

You want to find the CORE temps listed by SpeedFAN, not CPU temps, those are always off from what I've seen.

You can make the window bigger / remove some temperature listings until it's just the mothebroard and CPU cores.

For some reason, your Tjmax in Real Temp is set to 90C instead of 100C like it should be. Click the Settings button, and then click the Set TJ Max button and change the four numbers to 100C. Once you've done that, both it and Core Temp should report identical temperatures.

Real Temp and Core Temp are as accurate as you can get when it comes to temperature measurements. However, be aware that because of the way the sensors work, temps below 50C or so are not very accurate and should be ignored. However, load temps are pretty close to the reality, and they're accurate enough to get a good idea of where your temps are. And forget about Speedfan for temperature monitoring.

dont forget that its a core 2 processor.. and the idle temps are 100% inaccurate.. the only temps that matter are your full load temps.. and even then they will be slightly inaccurate under 50C..

btw the cpu sensors are wrong in SF.. because on the intel you should see core0 core1 core2 core3.. not 2 CPU sensors.. so either the motherboards relaying the information incorrectly.. or its just reading a dead/non existant sensor like the AUX sensor..
