Is it possible to get one of those wafer thin temp sensors between the cpu/gpu chips and the water block without moding or butchering the block? Am building my first w/c system, and using a Koolance software based temp/fan controller card. AMDx2 5000 w/DD rbx block on cpu :rolleyes:
 
Nope... not really.

for an AMD processor with an IHS (the metal cap over it) you can epoxy the temp sensor to the SIDE of the IHS if you trim it down some.
 
Many of the Koolance blocks have a built in niche for the temp sensor. :)
 
arcygenical, could u grind a very small notch, using a dremell, in the copper block, just enough to epoxy the sensor to the block and still get FLAT?
 
Possibly silly question, why would you want another CPU temp sensor? Is there much of a diffrence between the built in CPU sensor and a DIY sensor on the heat spreader?
 
if it was an LGA775 proc (which I'm damn sure an Athlon 64 X2 isn't), the temp sensor could be offset from over the core to between the IHS and the CPU cover-thing-plate-armor-eh? (you know, the thing that holds down them LGA775 procs, y'all)

...but because most of the heat is being transferred to the waterblock, it'll be a couple degrees off.

in the case of an aircooled heatsink where it isn't as efficient as a watercooling loop, my friend's Speedfan reading was 2C higher than what the sensor read.

maybe you could do something similar and use glue or something to attach the sensor to the side of the IHS, although it'll be a couple degrees off. At least the reading will be consistent from motherboard to motherboard...
