I have a 754 Newcastle that im trying to OC. Around what temp is "too hot" when under load?
 
Well i was able to push my cpu to 220x11 @ 1.75v

Seemed pretty stable, prime95 ran for 3 hours w/o fail.

But the temp peaked at 63c, so im thinking about getting a zalman 9500 and pushing it to 228x11 (2.5ghz)
 
go for it! I don't like running my system above 50C let alone 60 but that's just my preference. 63 is getting kinda close to 70... get a new hsf hehe
 
Well i wish i had one of the new venice cores, they run so much cooler than these old newcastles. Got to work with what ive got, think ill push it as far as it can go with the 9500 and stop when the heat peaks at 60c under load.
 
My 2800+ newcastle has always run hot too. I've had a zalman 7000 on it, water cooling, the stock cooler, and now a stock FX/X2 heatsink/fan. The FX cooler does just as good, if not better, than everything else I've tried (not quite as good as water, but then again, I was using a bigwater kit).

It's running at 2.5ghz right now, and maxes out at about 56c. I had to bump the voltage up last night to 1.6 to keep it prime stable.

If I run it at the stock 1.8ghz, I can drop the voltage to 1.1 and still be stable. Even undervolting it by this much, I still idle at ~35c, and load around 44c. It's just a dang hot chip.
