for some reason i dont feel like im getting the right temps from my probe, i could be completely wrong, but i'm somewhat skeptical that I'm actually that lucky. The temp gauge and probe came with my case (the Aspire X-Dreamer II) which i've read is pretty accurate. I've posted a few threads on a few different boards in the past inquiring on as where i should place my temp probe for the most accurate readings, and I've gotten a few different replies, a few people directed me to "how-to" articles. One had someone drilling a hole through the middle of bottom of their heatsink and running the probe into the middle of the hole, another had someone cutting away at the topmost layer of their socket (without actually damaging the socket holes) and weaving a thin probe through the socket pins so it was directly under the core. Other people just told me to tape the the probe to the bottom of the heatsink, directly adjacent to the die. The first two suggestions were a little too much for my blood. I dont have the patience to perform such precise procedures nor the money in case i totally screw something up, so I just listened to the latter suggestion and taped it to the bottom of my heatsink next to the die.
The thing IS, as I mentioned earlier, the temps I'm getting seem to be really rather cool (Overclocked: 1.6v - 29c idle, 39c full load.) I am using a pretty decent aftermarket air cooler, but still. Maybe those are normal temps, and I'm just being paranoid, but I just want to make ABSOLUTELY sure. My mobo reports temps of around 45c idle, 60c full load, and i do know abit mobos read quite high.....but 15-20 degrees high?
let me know guys.
thank you so much.
