well, all of a sudden I have a problem. Everythings been fine...

Was playing a game(rome) for about 2 hours, and the NVIDA temp sensor came on. Said my GPU core was 116.!!!!

So i checked temps through expert tool, nvida, speed fan, and riva tuner. all around 100, with pcb board around 35. So i checked CPU. CPU is fine... around 40.

So the CPU seems fine, looks like I have fine flow through the Res. But the GPU is "saying" its really hot.

SO i checked the tightening of the bolts on the maze 4... seems good. Seems like a tight connection.

So i loaded new Nvida drivers, re booted. Still same temp problem.

So i decided to push it, see what happens.. so I play CS Source for about 2 hours.. it just stays at 116, never moves.. no matter how hard I push the video card, or if i just le tit sit there at stare at my background.. it stays 116. I played CS for 2 hours at 118, with no problems. Could I ajust have a faulty sensor in the AGP Slot or something?

Im gussing a GPU cant stay at 116 C for 3 hours and still be fine....

I literally have changed nothing, and the computer hasn' moved. I installed in NVida driver. Checked the bolts on the maze 4. Re booted. Gamed for 2 hours at 116 no problem. Its not OC'ed, and hasn't been... seems something is faulty with the sensor to me, but if anyone can come up with something I would appreciate it!

did you try completely removing the block and remounting it?

that would be my first guess.
 
Sorry, i wrote that email at 3am, after 2 hours of testing...

Its a evga 6800GT.

And yes i guess im going to have to take it off, and put it back on, but i need to go get some AS 5 to do it, im all out.

well, interesting.... after testing all night....Im not quite sure what to make of it. I turned on the system this morning... and left it on all day, just idling as i wasn't home much... after about 10 hour sof on, light surfing, emailing... it never got above 25 C... then i put it through some tests using the rhthl video test...

The GPU stayed at 35-40C mostly... but the board temp after about 90 minutes really started to climb.... everything on the moard was hot, i couldn't even tough the BFG heat sinks on the MEM, they were so hot... this finally seemed to push the GPU up.. and it started to go up and up.... so i stopped the tests.....but as the board stayed hot, it keep the GPU hot.. i think this what happened 2 nights ago...... the board stayed hot a good hour after i stopped using it... SOOO..
I had an extra 80 MM fan hanging around. I put it on the bottom of my case, pointing right up at the VC.... ran test again. let it get too hot, then turned on the 80 MM.... and just like that, the temps crept down... finally settling in ar ound 38 C for oth board and GPU, even after and hour of testing...

The big question is.. wht did the board get so hot? Why now? Has it been doing it since the switch to WC and I just never noticed? I just dont know.
