I broke down my system this weekend and among other things reapplied AS5, I undid my previous OC just to be sure and went into Windows. I saw that my temps were 4-8C higher than they were last week.
I break it open again and again reapply AS5, only this time I have less distractions and I know I am doing it right. I load back in and again the temps ar 4-6C higher (2C drop in load).
I give up and decide to play some games. After about 1 hour I get out of my BF2 game to check temps and they are still high, but liveable.
So I decide to see where an OC will put them.
I put ram at 230mhz and the CPU to 2.585 (2.4 stock).
I get back in and run some Prime95 (maybe 45 mins) I check temps and they are on load at 44C with the occasional peak of 46-47C, I get out of Prime95 and the temps drop to under 40C. Normal idle 36-38C.
Last night I ran Prime95 over night, this morning it was at 44C and no errors.
What happened to drop the temps after the OC? Is it that the AS5 got better situated? Or did the OC just bork my temp readings.
Also, I just remembered. I left the computer on yesterday (before reapply) and called my sister to check the temps, it was idling at 49C? I told her to shut it down. Now it Idles 11C cooler? That is really what I am asking, how did it drop that much?
Maybe 6C idle from just the OC, but 11C idle from the reapply of AS5 and the OC.
