I've heard LGA 775 chips run a little cooler then Socket 478. Anyone seen some direct comparisons?

lga775 is more futureproof but alot of the technologies havnt matured fully yet like ddr2, and pcie and the chipsets are nothing to write home about either.

yes, I'm aware of this
as stated, I'm only looking for direct temp comparisons

I think Socket 478 Prescotts run hotter than LGA775 Prescotts because they use an older stepping, or something like that.

I've heard the LGA 775 design is better equipped to dissipate the heat, or something like that. :p

Good to see another member of the 4GHz club, which I hope to join soon.

my 520 @ 3.1 runs 36c idle and 56c full load after gaming for atleast 2 hours in a warm room.

Using a Zalman CNPS7700-cu

My 3.2 LGA runs 42c idle in a super quiet Shuttle.

Hold cow that's hot. When my computer hits 42c under load, I get nervous

EDIT - sorry for thread crapping with this comment. I'm not running a pressy, but I'm still awed by the heat!

uh-huh. You're running a Northwood on water and he's running a Prescott on air. No wonder you see such a difference :p
