Can you please post a text itemized list instead of links? Thanks.

Most of that looked ok... but whatever you do, DON'T BUY THE ASUS V9999 GE!!!!

That thing is a huge rip-off! You can get a full GT (16 Pipes, 6 Shaders) like $35 cheaper.

I'd say get rid of that 6800GE and get a 6800GT for same price, swap out the mobo and cpu for a Athlon 64 cpu and mobo you can get an athlon xp 3200+ for 190 from newegg and get a good mobo to go with that. Thats just my advice, other stuff looks good but you might want to consider what i just told you.

6800GE out , 6800GT in
athlon xp 3000 out, athlon 64 3200 in
asus a7n8x mobo out, any a 64 mobo in

Everything else looks fine if you're going for a budget computer...

But don't get that video card! Major rip off! It's "one of a kind", yes, because it has the memory but only 12 pipes... but if you're building a budget system, I LOVE my BFG 6800nu OC, which will probably perform on par with that ASUS one you've got on there. If you're going to spend 400 bucks though, get a GT.

a k8t800 is mobo is like 175 but the a64 3200 is 199 like you said but for a k8t800 Ill pay an xtra 90 bones

I would get the DFI LANPARTY UT nF3 250Gb m/b with AMD 64 either a 2800 or 3000 with pc3500 ram or better yet pc3700 or 4000. You can oc it up with just the memory.

lol...actually i think its like 50$ more...but 64bit is noticably more powerful...and WELL worth it...just remember the buffered ram ;) (if its socket 754)...if u can afford like 20$ more than that socket 939 allows dual channel...

would recommend the asus a7n8x deluxe 2.00 and not the a7n8x deluxe -e. the a7n8x deluxe 2.00 has the nforce 2 400 mcp-t chipset. meaning it has soundstorm. you can save 100 bucks this way because you wont need a soundcard

199 + 86 = 285 for athlon xp 3200 and a7n8x mobo

Save yourself one dollar, you'll be happy, read reviews on the mobo if you dont think its good ;) .

I would also vote for a move to A64, you would really notice a difference, and the price is not that much more.

Socket 754 is decent but now adays you can get a 939 for a few bucks more.

ummmmmm pc3500,3700, and 4000 ram is ddr2 dude....which i dont even think there IS a ddr2 socket 754..and ddr2 so far is pretty much worthless...the timings are HORRIBLE....stick with high end 2-2-2-5 pc 3200...it would get better performance yields

there IS none...tahts socket 940...u wnat socket 939...they enabled dual channel with socket 939...plus they dont even MAKE new socket 940 cpus anymore...its just old

If I were you, I'd stay away from the Chaintech and Soltek:

The DFI Lanparty is many dollars more, but I bet the insurance against annoying problems is worth the cost difference. In my experience, the part of the PC to pay the most attention to before buying is the mobo.

Well I do wanna stick with ASUS mobos they have never let me down and are outstanding

Umm... maybe I'm old school and not a sound expert... but... why are wanting to say this is a budget computer and you're shelling out 111 bones on a sound card? And then another 140 on speakers? My SB LIVE 5.1! powers surround sound... and it was about 5 dollars.

Like I said, I'm not a sound expert, but if you're shelling out the cash for the sound card, I don't see why you'd sacrifice more important things, like a CPU and mobo.

well the new windows is a long way off and Im sure it will take more to have good sound in the future I did want some future proofablilty

Seriously dude... that video card you have is not a good value. If you want to stick with ASUS you'll be paying another ~100 dollars more for the "better" one, IF they have it in stock.

Alright, Alright 6800 Ultra 256 meg and it doesn't have to be ASUS but it better not suck ass

LOL, so much for budget ;). You'll pay as much for your video card as your whole computer if you go for the Ultra. Worth it, but no more budget :p. If you do plan to OC, I would suggest, as many would, that you get a GT and bump it up to Ultra speeds.

in that case

or heres your beloved asus....

this is prolly the best though...its better than asus because of the lifetime warranty and 20mhz OC on the core UNDER warranty...and yes the warranty is DAMN good
