Tekken 6 shocker

I think we will see most games going multiplatform since that seems the way to make the most money.

Also in my experience the older you get the more the fanboyism fades as you can just buy multiple consoles.

*sob*

On a serious note.. so what? As long as it comes to PS3 as well I couldn't care less. Personally I really hope these "exclusives" start showing up on both 360 and PS3. Its better for everyone.

As if Tekken 6 is actually going to be any different than the five Tekkens that came before it. Who cares?

Me! PC hasnt ever had Tekken.
If its a straight port, I wont buy it though.
If they use a PCs potential, I'm very interested.

Wow good news, now when are we going to get MS next gen console??

i hope its good, i really liked tekken 5. tekken 4 was bleh tho.

i dunno how the hell you are going to use the xbox controller for tekken tho, maybe it will work but the d-pad might kill it for me

Who would want to play a fighting game on a keyboard/mouse? I had enough of that shit playing fighting games on emulators. Arcade stick, gamepad or go home.

Agreed. Fighting games are perfect for consoles. Yes you can buy a gampad for your PC and get the exact same thing...but why would they port a game to a platform that doesn't have proper controls standard?

I'll still pick it up for PC. I'd like more stuff that plays better on my Xbox 360 or Nyko Controllers.

Multiple multiple MULTIPLE control methods ftw! Also gotta go get one of those Arcade at home controllers that look like someone just axe the entire front dash controller off an arcade machine. :p

If we get more fighting games on PC I'll definately pick that up.

Interesting that you should bring it up as a point.
Perhaps PC joypads arent good enough for you, I find them just as easy to use as on a console.
After all they are identical :)

+1 to that all of the way. I'm getting SF4 since it'll be on the PC, too.

I'll be getting a good fighting game fix for PC as SFIV and the new King of Fighters will be coming out on it. Hopefully we can also have a game like soul calibur 4 or tekken 6 on it and then I'd be fully satisfied for a while.

If Tekken makes a pc release I'll buy it but I didn't see anywhere that it was coming to pc.

Either way we should get Street Fighter IV, so I'm happy about that. Now the question is when we will get it.

Someone is confused here.
In post #10 you said

I didnt make reference to keyboard / mouse, you made that up yourself while quoting my post that didnt mention it.
What is stopping you from using a joypad on a PC?
They've been out for quite a lot of years and arent new.

Then in post #14 you said

You contradict yourself on the same page and included me in it for some reason.

Call me crazy, but I like playing fighting games on a keyboard too. I'm terrible with joysticks. I play with gamepads fine for the most part too, minus having to use L/R buttons because there's only four face buttons. Still haven't decided whether to get SF4 for PC or PS3, but I'm sure either one will be dandy.

Ah I see where everything when bass ackwards! I assumed you meant Keyboard/Mouse controls when you said "use the PC's potential." Which caused me to think "People would play fighters on a keyboard/mouse when they could just buy a gamepad?". Wasn't really contradiction, I was just mistaken in the first place.

Haha my bad.

There are some okay pads for the PC, although many have lousy d-pads. The best PC pads for fighting games are the adapters that let you use the PS2 controllers. Then you have a huge selection of pads/sticks/etc.
For anyone playing fighting games with a keyboard...if you think the PC players give analog stick players a hard time, good luck with that! :) To each their own, but the learning curve on that has to be tough. Still, at least on paper, there's no handicap if you can do it well.

The old and new XBox controllers are great on PC.
The old XBox controller wasnt meant for PC so requires adapting by soldering a USB connector on and as far is I know only works on XP.
This is what I use and its great :)

The new XBox controller is already fully PC compatible and is really good too.
I find that these 2 controllers are by far my favourites.

Who says you have to use a keyboard/mouse :rolleyes:

It's this kind of narrow-minded and parochial thinking/attitude towards PC's that leaves me dumbfounded.

I mean seriously, do you mean to honestly tell me that you are entirely oblivious of the fact that you can use *ANY*, and I do mean, *ANY* game pad on the PC?

Yes, you read that right, even the wii mote has been adapted for PC games, and it goes without saying that you could use the X360 gamepad as well as the PS3's or any number of native PC gamepads out there on the market.

Comon, atleast read far enough for me to have clarified that I was mistaken about Nenu's post. :p

By now, PC's have way more advanced graphics capabilities which translates into super high resolutions, AA/AF (which for the most part is either entirely lacking or poorly implemented at best on consoles) and far more fluid framerates which is crucial for fighting games especially.

My question would be, why would you not want to play it on a PC given the above choices?

Oh, and come on, is it really that difficult or burdensome to spend all of about 60 seconds for the one-time configuration of a controller?

Because it could be a "shitty port," there might be more players on the consoles, you might prefer to play on your TV and don't want to hook your PC up to it, the consoles have easier to set-up surround sound, and even though there are multitudes of controllers for the PC, most are horrible. The 360 pad has dandy analog sticks, but the d-pad is a joke. Most pads have the d-pad as an afterthought...but with fighting games it's THE main thing.

I have my PC hooked up to my TV and yes, I took the time/effort needed to make the sound just like the consoles...but it wasn't exactly easy to do so and there are still vsync issues with many TVs no matter what driver overrides you use. I'd consider it, but I have a lot of doubts.

I already have a surround sound set of speakers hooked up to my PC that are in most cases superior to most people's home theater speakers.

My monitor (new 26") on the way is more than adequate considering i'll be sitting a mere 2 feet away from it, and has a higher res than most HDTV's, and at that range (the aforementioned 2ft) screen size becomes a moot point, especially since I'll be gaming at 3x the resolution of most consoles.

Controller argument is nonsensical because you can use ANY gamepad on the PC, which is something you could never do with any of the consoles.

As for native PC gamepads that lend themselves quite nicely to fighting games you can try either one of these as their D-pads are nothing short of spectacular:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826127208
(at less than $8, there is no excuse to not pick this up)

or this:

Which features the same D-pad as the one above, but also features excellent analog sticks.

Oh, and most devs could take a page out of Capcom's book and develop PC ports that actually far exceed their console counterparts in terms of looks and performance.
DMC4 is one such example ... try running that at 200+ FPS on an X360 at 1080P with everything maxed out.
Good luck with that.
The aforementioned reasons are why I for one will be purchasing Street Fighter 4 for the PC.
Why purchase an inferior version for an inferior system if one has a high-end gaming rig.
And as for Tekken, well, the devs can chalk that one up as lost sales since I (and many like me) refuse to purchase consoles when our PC's run circles around them, and the fact that there are plenty of other devs who keep us happy and busy enough anyhow.

Or if you have a multi-platform arcade cabinet...

I have been looking forward to adding the next Street Fighter to my cab, if Tekken comes out on PC, then I might just have to pick that up as well. And when you think about it in terms of a PC arcade machine...

(console + TV + joypad) < (22" CRT + Real Arcade Controls + High Performance PC)

Unexpected for sure, but as long as the games can be played online cross-platform, them I'm all for it! More people to play the better.

You can use any type of gamepad you want for the PC- SNES, Genesis, NES, PS2, Xbox360, etc... Then you also have loads of PC gamepads some of which are very good.

well I bet the online play is going to be garbage like PS3 tekkenDR.

crappy interface + input lag FTL.

If any of you guys are interested in playing fighting games w/ very little lag, check this out.

Good to see some branching out here, I've been saying it forever. PC needs more console-type games, and NO, you don't have to play with kb/m. I love my PS2 controller with the adapter I got online for like 10 bucks.

Genres that don't work very well on kb/mouse don't come to the PC for the same reason RTS games rarely come on consoles: sales depend on the consumer having that device. And since 100% of consoles don't come with mice, and 100% of computers don't come with gamepads, there you have it.

OP, I'm not sure why you think PS3 fans want exclusives. I'm a gamer with a PS3 and I hate them. It costs money to buy more than one console in order to play all the games you want. Watch... how about we get Halo 3 if you get Resistance 2? See, you'd do it in a heartbeat and we'd both win. It's only when you fall into this brand loyalty crap that you see people wanting something to be exclusive to try and make the other side jealous.

Thats why I'm hoping Xbox Live can fix that. Got my fingers crossed because the whole point of this game is to play online against people across the continent and maybe Japan, especially those that have the 1Gb/s connections.

The 360 controller isn't so bad for fighting games IMO. I don't bother with the D-pad though; I find doing most of the directional inputs for moves much easier with the left stick than I have for any D-pad on any controller. Doing Ryu's fireball in SF4 will be a breeze with the left stick, I reckon.

You may as well play Street Fighter with a mouse/kb ...

2D Fighting games and this pseudo-3D SF4 lend themselves to the D-pad much much more so than conventional analog sticks on gamepads.

Most likely It wont. SoulCalibur4 on 360 lags just as bad.
I can't even play friends that live near without a 0.5sec delay on all my moves which is more than enough to screw up the entire gameplay for these fighting games.
I hope I'm wrong tho.

This is one thing that bothers me as a fighting game fan.
Companies slap on some shitty netcode on their games touting online play but the result is totally unplayable input lag fest.
While then, some programmers work on their own project on their freetime using a arcade emulator and make lagless online play a reality.
Its embarrasing these professional companies need to step up their quality a lot to catch up to the quality of ggpo.
