Read my sig... i'm not a newbie.

:/

Here's the deal - building a system for my dad. Has a Barton 2500 in it (old one, was in my system stable at 2000 - went to 2200, but left at 2000 at stock voltage - i get a mobile 2400 out of the deal :)).

MB: Abit NF7
Vid: GF2MX400 PCI
RAM: 2x256 PC3200 Apacer
cdrom, floppy, 160gig seagate, 300w new enermax power supply.

I get through random amounts of xp setup and BAMMO bsod.

One thing that seems to have helped was to change from stock 166 bus speed to a 200 bus, leaving it at 1800 for the setup at least, but it's not getting too far.

Next step, since that seemed to help, was to assume a stick of ram bad, and pull one. might have helped. we'll see.

right now i am looking at it copying files for the 7th time, and i am sure it's going to lock.

hasn't yet.

walking away. brb.

system rebooted itself.
hm.
HOLY COW. XP is loading.

well, thanks for your help, [H] crew.
:)
