So i just started folding again, and what is up with team google?

Part of the reason their numbers are so huge is that they offered a version of F@H as an opt in program with their toolbar. It sets people up to fold for their teams, so anyone who trusts the almighty Google could be folding for them. :D

In the beginning there was Stanford,
Stanford begat Google, and life was good.
Stanford begat Folding@Home and life promised to be better.
One day Google met Folding@Home and they bonded (a little incest here?)
And the promise of life being better sped up.

Essentially Google was founded by Stanford graduates who decided to devote some of their resources to working with VJ. They only get the most stable clients. They do not get the latest and greatest clients or WU. It used to be possible to load the Google Folding and edit the registry so you had Team 33 and your user name. This was great because for a while a lot of people were thinking the Google toolbar was great. One could build machines for ones office, put the google toolbar and their regedits on and borg like hell, and be invisible. Not that one ever done that,
Might still be possible but I heard it's changed.

But as far as stats go... DAMN!!! But I mean the main reason we fold is to cure diseases, so this is a good thing. but yea.... BORG LIKE HELLLL!!!!!!!!!!!

I think at some point someone had come up with a way to change it as gnewbury stated. However it was determined that it was against the TOS, and no one pursued it. Anyhow, I've read some stuff that said in later revisions of the folding toolbar, Google has set things up so it automatically resets to fold for them even if you change the reg settings.

Can anyone come up with a [H]ardOCP toolbar with similar functions? :D
I don't think anyone else has been allowed to distribute folding for their own purposes, which is one reason Google has been seperated from the other teams in the stats pages.

The console version is by far the most productive, why reinvent the wheel? ;)
