Teal Coloured Lighting?

I am looking for kind of an Odd coloured light.

Whether it be CCFL or LED's, I am having a hard time finding this colour.

I know it might be alot to ask for but might as well ask right? haha.

But for a reference, the colour I am trying to go for is, If you have ever played Final Fantasy 7, and remember the colour of the Mako energy, or the ambient Colour of where Jenova is in, I am looking for that type of colour. It's like blue/green, or teal.

Or if anyone know if combination of CCFL/LED or whatever make that colour it would be helpful :D
 
I haven't played FF7, so I can't comment on that, but....

If you install both blue LEDs and green LEDs, you'll probably get the color you're looking for. If you vary the number/brightness of each color, you'll be able to get as close as you like.
 
I have seen teal colored LEDs before, but they were in sport bike magazines. You could always go that route and then redo the wiring for a PC.

Edit: Lamptron makes FlexLight LED kit, 5-Spread Lazer LED, FlexLight Pro all in Teal, as well as several other type of LED lights. Performance PCs, Frozen CPU, Jab-Tech all carry their products... it may just be a matter of requesting that particular color being carried. You can always try contacting Lamptron directly also: Lamptron Contact Info page/URL]. Maybe they can tell you who carries their teal lights in your area.
 
blue light and green light will mix to create what's technically referred to as cyan. it's like light blue (hex code: 00FFFF, if memory serves). mixing CCFLs or LEDs might give you something a bit closer to "mako teal."

EL wire also has lots of colors available, but working with that stuff has issues all its own.

what about a sheet of colored acrylic and a white CCFL or LED array?

i really think you'll get the best effect by mixing white, blue and green LEDs. if you were to use "spotlight" LEDs (i've linked an example below) with more focused areas of lighting, you could get the more dynamic look of that mako energy., which isn't a uniform color (and why it looks so cool).

if you really wanted to go crazy, you could get or build a sequencer and use PWM to dim the lights in a dynamic fashion, creating an effect possibly like the pure mako energy that cloud falls into in disc 3, right before Cid and Tifa have to take over the team.

dynamic lighting is one of my goals for my summer project. as of now, i'm thinking about using a BASIC stamp to sequence several LEDs on an off/dim/bright pattern (using PWM) to move past the simple on/off dichotomy.
 
I was once thinking of doing something with a circuit to build something that creates a fading LED..

Of course I got really lazy, and started to EBAY for pulsating LEDs.. which in turn I became more lazy and never bought those either.. oh well..

I might try to use the spot light effect, I'm not entirely sure.

But my theme of my case was going to be "JENOVA PC" and that's the colour I wanted it to light up.. at first I wanted a more 'solid' light a CCFL gives off you could say, but now that I think about it, with the spot light LED's this could be more interesting.

I'm also thinking of putting a Applique on a side window, and putting a red LED behind where JENOVA'S eye should be. The applique would obviously be JENOVA.. but Time to go home :) Talk later.

i really haven't given many details on my summer project here on [H] yet, and actually, i'm kinda glad. after seeing the first benches on the 4850s, i'm thinking i might go ATI, which means no black PCBs :( i liked the potential i saw in the Antec 900 when i bought it, and i wanted to dress it up in green lights and mainly black components (as far as possible, anyway). i was originally going to use one of the green DFI boards to go along with it. but ATI cards only come in blue and red :mad: btw, the color inspriation had nothing to do with nVidia; the goal was to try to make the case resemble a Borg tactical cube (well, except not a cube). i really liked that idea, and i'll probably stick with it because i've done so much more brain storming. guess i'll just have to deal with an odd colored PCB, one way or another.
 
Yeah.. just small little kinks I have to work out..

I am planning on putting it in a CM 340 elite case... it's mATX.. for the HSF I want to buy a green LED fan.. and have those Laser Beam LEDs pointing at the HSF area so it comes out to be teal.. and I will put a window on the case with the applique of Jenova.. and over the front of the CoolerMaster logo, get like a name tag shaped thing, and goto an engraving shop and having them engrave JENOVA across it and attach it over the logo.

but my Motherboard only has 1 connector for a case fan, so I want to buy a fanspeed controller, and 2 medium speed yate loons.. but the price is adding up quick.. so maybe won't be done towards the end of the summer.
 
2 questions:

1) If I were to buy http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=107&products_id=1521 and I wanted to make them pulsate, how hard would that be?

2) I have a tuniq tower HSF with an Antec Tricool Green LED fan. I was going to use that for my source of green and use http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=107&products_id=1521 white and blue to create a teal colour. But what I wanted to do was mount the white and blue LED base things on to the bottom of the Tuniq Tower. If I attach them on the bottom of the HSF with double sided tape (the strong kind) that won't have an effect on my temps in any way will it?

Also I can't find any website that sells the Lamptron product the 5 LED Lazer thing :( at least in Teal.


edit: 3rd Question: Does anyone know what the voltage is on the Motherboard for the Power LED? I am thinking about replacing the Power LED of my case to Red, and relocating it to where jenova's eye would be.
 
i have the solution to all your problems on how to get a custom color out of your cases now this only works for ccfls and might for leds too i haven't tried (i'm surprised nobody has thought of this yet) okay... first off buy a white ccfl kit from frozencpu xoxide or wherever you get thoughs types of things. next...go to your local craft store and purchase a roll of cellophane(sometimes called polypropylene transparent film wrap) in whatever color that your looking for or u can combine colors for diffrent shades id imagine and cut it to about the same size as the bulb (between the two mounting squares on the ccfl) now, get some scotch tape, and wrap the cellophane around your ccfl(s) until you have the desired color tone and darkness that you want and then tape the edges (or glue) so it wont unwind.... okay so... now you have it all wrapped and taped up in the cellophane right? next thing you do is plug it in of course.. to test the color and if you don't like it add or remove some to get the color your looking for ;) ....your welcome :p

I've actually done that before.. but we are trying to get a certain effect.. plus now that I think about it.. I don't want it to be super bright like CCFL... I'm sure I could just keep putting more and more cellophane around the CCFL.. but after playing around with theHSF, and Lighting, I kind of just want the light to be around the HSF and that's it.
