Ok, so if I boot up my computer and check the BIOS, it says I'm at about 43C (obviously idle since I'm in the bios menu). However, when I load windows and run Intel TAT, it's saying I'm at about 31C idle per core (hitting about 55C max under load). My question is - isn't that a rather large amount of difference between the mobo and TAT readings? My understanding is that the motherboard temp has it's own software that takes its own measurements whereas the TAT is reading the therm diode off the chip directly. But not really sure how that explains such a large difference.
I'm running a C2D with a Zalman 9500 in a P180 with the 3 stock Antec fans running at medium speed. No overclocking yet...
Given my case/fans setup, i'd think that 43C idle is kind of on the high side and would be a bit worried at what happens when I load it...
