With a brand new PC in the works, I have been thinking of purchasing LCD.

I currently have a Mitsubishi DiamondPro 930SB+ which I simply LOVE!!!

But, I want a second monitor, and while I have plenty of room for dual CRT's, but the thought of some slim LCD's to save desk space is quite nice.
I really have no place to go to demo/view high quality LCD's. We own a few 23" Apple displays, and I think they are badass, but they are expensive :( So unless I buy an Apple, or a Dell E170FP, then it will be a purchase sight unseen which is kinda unnerving.

I recently got one hell of a job, and haven't really blown much money yet, so now is the time. :D I don't want over kill, but rather pay for better equipment than save a few $$$ on sub-par stuff.

I'm thinking of an Apple Cinema Display (23") or two 21"... but two 21"s are close in price to a single 30"..... damn.. that's a lot of money!

Otherwise, I want two 19", maybe 20" high-quality LCD's... I saw a Sony LCD in a store next to a cheap BenQ (the sony was 19"/$600) and it was probably the sweetest non-apple LCD I had ever seen! They had a big (and suprisingly inexpensive) Sony Plasma display hooked up to the same source and the Plasma SUCKED compared to the LCD. Even the Benq!

I haven't had the chance to see an LCD next to my high-quality CRT, viewing the same source material. Do you think I should just buy another Mistu DiamondPro and stick with CRT for a while?

2 21s are no where near the price of an apple 30", 2 213Ts would be a bit under 2k, 1800 in fact from newegg but im pretty sure you can find them for less elsewhere. youd need a dual dvi graphics board if you wanted dual LCDs too, because LCDs on VGA arent worth going for. the main factor in what size of screens youd get would be your budget, which you never stated. nor did you tell us what your using habits are; editing digital content, content creation, programming, web browsing, gaming, etc.
 
Games and Internet, some non-professional-use Photoshop, as well.

Budget is $2000. That is max because I am already saving up for a Toshiba Cinema Series HD TV. :(

I might jump on the SLI bandwagon, so i'm looking at 6800Ultra's, which have dual DVI. Covered there :)
 
well for 2k you could get double 19s, 20s or 21s, or a single 23". personally, id get a single 23" because it would provide enough workspace for you and dual screens are akward for gaming in most cases. the sony 23" would be suitable, hp can be had for a bit less, although from what ive read it isnt as good as the sony. the apple is also a good choice, and aside from its lower movability and lack of adjustment options for windows, it would be the best choice imo becaues apples have better screen quality from what ive read and from personal experience. the lack of adjustability isnt really an issue because you can adjust it using your graphics card control center or through photoshop, so that isnt a problem.
 
I think it's best to get dual monitors. cost is way less and dual monitors is more versatile. Also you get way more desktop space with a dual monitor setup then some 30" display. Gaming is not an issue at all it's very easy to just disable the second monitor if even needed to do so.

Don't get me wrong, the 30" display is very nice. but the cost just can be up to 2 times more then some dual monitor setup.

Running 3200x1200 is very nice :D
