Hey I need to mod a crt up to some rack mount brackets. At one point there was a thread/article link something on proper ways to take it apart so I don't kill my self. I know its risky no matter what.. Any one have what I am talking about or any suggestions?

Ahaha, no don't do that. The main parts to worry about are the cathode (the black wire that goes to the back of the CRT tube) any large capacitors and the flyback transformer.
If you need to dismantle the tube for any reason, get a coathanger, and wrap it many times around the metal part of a screw-driver (unpainted) ensuring good electrical contact. Attach this coathanger to the ground pin of a cheap, cut-up extension cord. Make sure it's plugged in (only the ground pin, cut off the Hot and Neutral pins, the flat ones).
Insert that behind the cathode's little rubber cap (hold on to the plastic part of the screwdriver please... and wear gloves) and feel around. You might hear it discharge, you might not.
