I’m looking for some hard drives to go into my new rig I’m using an ASUS striker Extreme MB. I'm looking for a lot of storage space and great performance. I don't know what setup I’m going to using because I don't quite understand it at the moment. I know that the MB is capable of Raid 0, 1, 0+1, 5, JBOD but like I said I don't understand all what this means at the moment. The rig is going to be used for gaming, 3D modeling software, and sometimes as entertainment center.

But I would take any suggestion on what setup to go with and what hard drives to use as far as brands, RPM, and Cache, at this point any particular hard drive. 600 GB to 1.5 TB is the range of storage space I’m looking for.

Seagate 7200.10 drives are popular with RAID setups. Mine is silent and they are reviewed well with a good warranty.

I would recommend one harddrive, which will house your Game and application installs and a second one (or more) to use for data storage. That way you can reinstall the OS without disturbing your data. I would probably use an external drive for backup purposes. I would not use any RAID setup at all.
