Take Chance on 2007WFP?

The 2007WFP is at a great price now (about $350) and I wanted to know a general opinion of whether it's worht taking the risk of buying one and then having banding issues. I have no doubt that dell will take it back, but is it worth the hassle? The monitor is a pretty good deal (I think) having composite and s-video inputs as well. And, it has aspect ratio scaling which few other monitors in the price range have. Anyways, is it worth buying the 2007WFP? I'm going on vacation late next week so if it were problematic it would have to wait for my return. If not this monitor, I'm probably going with the viewsonic vx2025wm but I'd prefer one that has scaling abilities. Also, Dell is selling refurbished models of it for $320 or $330. Normally I'd go straight for the new, but do the refurbs have the chance of being fixed? I'll email them and ask. Thanks.

I got my 2007 today. I am only using it for web browsing/IM/email over VGA for now until I put together my new PC tomorrow. I don't have my 2005FPW anymore but the quality of the screen seems to be just as good as the 2005 I had.

Well, the thing is that I will be using it primarily for my xbox 360 and some for my PC, so I'd be using both VGA (for 360) and DVI (PC); in other words, for gaming. Some people have said that the monitor is a weak 16ms response time which isn't going to cut it for me.

I wish I could tell you my opinion on the gaming side of it but what I have it plugged into is not gaming worthy. Here is what someone said on another forum:
I just recieved a 2007 and it is excellent. No color banding at all, have tested extensivly. I have played many ours of COD2, couple flight isms and AOE3. No ghosting at all. Fixing to order two more for my other pcs.

The banding issue has been fixed, someone posted a link to dells forums where a representative posted that dell has updated the firmware and started flashing new monitors with it. They are also taking in any 2007/2407's in with the banding issue to exchange for one with the updated firmware(not user updatable), not just people within the 21 day return period. Just see if you can get your order from the latest batch because you don't want to risk buying one with banding issues.

Dell has said the best time to order would be around June 15th if you want to get one from the start that has the updated firmware. Personally i dont think its an issue whether you get one with it or not. Dell's RMA process is simply with advanced replacement. Just send that guy a PM for a replacement and you can use the other one till your new updated one arrives. You dont pay for return shipping cost ither.

I have been playing some CS:S on my 2007 and I can't tell the difference between this and my past 2005 as far as quality and response time, even though the 2007 has 16ms compared to the 2005's 12ms.

The .PDF for the 2005fpw says 16ms as well.

Hmm. Everywhere I have looked the 2005FPW was listed as 12ms. Somewhere on [H] I remember reading that Dell did not list their specs correctly in one of their PDF files for one of the new monitors. I think it was the 24".
