I was wondering if anyone on this board uses a Tagan PSU or knows someone who does. I've been looking into their 900W and 1.1KW units for a nearly future proof PSU. I'd like to build a rig with dual CPUs and a big RAID 5 array someday, not to mention to power draw from dual GPUs and whatever else I can afford. I've heard from one or two posts that they're good, just not so well known. I'd like more opinions if I can get them.

I initially was considering a PC Power & Cooling 1KW unit, but it is just far too large. Good god, you would think they could have made that thing just a little bit smaller. 230mm in depth is just too much for my case. The Tagan units are 175mm, which is 5mm shorter than my current Silverstone 600W Strider.

Anyway, any help you can offer will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Nater

Right.. That's why I said "Topower" in my response when the OP said "Tagan."

AFAIK; Topower and Tagan are one in the same. Are there any Tagans that AREN'T made by Topower?

So are the new Coolmax's void of the PSU's to avoid designation? I'm refering to the big high wattage monsters, not the run of the mill variety.

Yeah... The Green Power units are NOT ATNG. I mean.. if they're actually made by ATNG, then ATNG has a top secret facility deep in the hills of China that produces PSU's like nobody has ever seen, because those Green Power Coolmaxes are unlike anything I've seen. Easily worth the $300 to $400 price tag they're asking.

I wonder if the "Green Power" comes from green Kryptonite...sorta ties in with the uber secret PSU factory theory.

One of these days I'm going to have to get my hands on one.

What I wanted more than anything were more alternatives to PC Power & Cooling's monsterous 1000W unit. These 850W and 1000W units from Coolmax look very nice, good prices for the type of PSU I'm after as well. The size on them is good too. The 1KW I'm looking at is 50mm shorter than the PCP&W unit.

Thanks,

Nater

Yeah. The 1000 is a much better value as it's 1000 @ 115V and 1100 @ 230V. The 850W is only 750W @ 115V.

Are you sure according to the label on newegg its an 850 (not by any means small for 300 dollars).

Although it doesn't say anything about it on the coolmax usa website, any of the three

Am I sure about what? Look at the label. On the top, they show 230V input and 850W max output and on the bottom they show 115V/230V input and 750W max output.

Hmm... I was going off of my memory from the one I have sitting on my bench. But looking at the label, it does look like 900W/1000W.
