Greetings all......first post.... :D
I do like Tagans, but they don't like me. I have had 3 die on me after a short space of time, and have been RMA'd and replaced.
I am currently running the 530W EasyCon, but this one is also showing signs of bad behaviour, in that if I happen to nudge (even every so lightly) the mains power cable, the computer just shuts down. It 'clicks' at the 3 pin socket, and I have to wiggle it to light up the motherboard again, and then hit the 'on' button, where it restarts without fuss.
I might be unplugging/plugging in a USB cable or something, nudge the power lead, and 'bam' the PSU switches off.
It seems to run fine otherwise.
It is running a Fatal1ty AN8 Ultra (single pci-e slot), 4400+ X2, 2 x 512MB OCZ pc3200 Plat rev 2, BFG GF7800GTX OC 256MB, 2 x 37GB Raptors/Raid 0, 1 x 250GB WD Sata II, and a 120GB Maxtor Sata I drives, one optical, Audigy 2 ZS, 3 x 120mm and 2 x 92mm fans and a few USB devices.
I am thinking of buying a new unit of around 500W -600W, (keeping the Tagan as a spare)and am an avid fan of JonnyGURU, as I have been reading his reviews for the past few weeks ever since I discovered this forum...................he doesn't mess about, and tells it like it is..........good , indifferent, and crap.... :D
I may want to try out AM2 and SLi ( or a GF7950 G2) at a later date, so I am looking to the future
But, there are some good units he has tested, and now I am finding it hard to make up my mind.....
Sorry for a rambling first post, but I put that down to old age.......... :D

In my experience, Topower built PSU's (that includes Tagan) are crap with one exception: The OCZ Powerstream 520ADJSLI.

You should go over to http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums PSU forum and tell them your experience with Tagans. I butt heads with the admin because he put Tagan as a "tier 2" brand in his multi-tiered list of PSU's (neglecting to give due credit to better quality brands) and I pretty much called him a fool.

Many thanks.....I may just do that :D
I am rather intersted in that Corsair 620W you reviewed............I just have to convince my other half that £150 is better spent than around £90-100 for a new PSU... :D

Something built like that Corasir is definitely a PSU you'd hang on to for a while. ;)

I shall tell my other half what you say.............. :D
I also like the Thermaltake ToughPower 750W and OCZ GameXstreme 700W.......damn this is difficult...

Jonny, I have had a XS account forever, but I can't log in, can't get them to email help &
can't even seem to create a new XS account.

What is going on over there?

Thanks,
Dave

Just a friendly little discussion as to why Tagan is on teir 2 of their multi-tier rating system when there's PSU's on lower tiers that performed better in my testing. That's all.

I registered yesterday, but not received an email confirmation yet................
