T-mobile Upgrade

I'm glad the Vibrant is as light as it is. Although many seem to associate the Vibrant's weight with flimsiness, I find it to be quite durable, and remarkably scratch resistant thanks to the guerrilla glass. The backplate does tend to fall off if I drop it on concrete, which I have accidently done a few times now. I'd take that over a broken glass plate though, which is what happened to my old iPhone.

The heavier they are, the harder they fall. At least that's how the saying goes, right?

Also, the battery life on the Vibrant is *terrible* if you keep the GPS on. I also turn the WiFi off if I know there isn't any signal around. There's no point in letting the system keep searching for one if you know there's not one there. Once you turn the GPS off though, the battery life is pretty good. In fact, it's actually quite amazing how much power the radio uses in a phone over the other hardware. I took the SIM card out of my old iPhone 2G when I got the Vibrant, and now the iPhone acts as a glorified iPod for the most part. The catch is, I don't have to put it on the charger except for once every 1-2 weeks now.

I can't comment on the GPS quality, as I don't use it very often, but I do know the compass is somewhat poor. Comparing using the Google Skymap program on my Vibrant compared to an HTC Evo 4G, the difference was staggering. I thought the EVO 4G was much more stable and smooth in its positioning than the Vibrant one, bar none.

You can't beat the speed, gpu, and display quality of the Vibrant though. I've yet to see a smartphone that looks as good except for the iPhone 4, and that's a fair bit more expensive.

PS - I only drop my phone 'cause getting out of my car is a chore, and I tend to lose it in my hands when getting out. I'm not a clutz!
