T-Line Too Big?

Well, I'm diving into water cooling with the help of a fellow forum member, who's not online. I have the whole "kit" of parts on the way (rad, pump, blocks, fan, etc) and the only thing I had to get was tubing, clamps, and a T-Line, which he linked me to. I ordered the parts online last night, and they were on my door step this morning! :eek: I guess living next to Ohio has some advantages.

Any-dang-way, I get the parts in and I realise something: The T-Line looks to be too big for the tubing? :( It appears to be almost the exact same dimesions of the tubing itself, and doesn't exactly wanna go in. Am I just missing how this works (like is it supposed to be THAT hard to get in?) or did we just order too big of a T-Line?

yeah, you need a 3/8" OD tline not ID. your tubing is way too big anyway, should be like 10mm for best results ;)

I'm guessing we took the 1/2" as OD not ID. :( Also, I'm assuming this tubing will be fitting my incoming parts. Why would you want a smaller tube, anyway? Smaller tub = Restriction = less flow, doesn't it? Plus since I'd be using a T-Line, it would be holding less fluid in the system.

Twas a joke. Go to home depot or lowes or ace, they have that 3/8 or 1/2 t line thingy for like 1.79$
 
Yeah, you want to get a T for 1/2" ID tubing (the outside diameter of the T will be 1/2"). Getting a 3/8" T will make the T too small for your 7/16" tubing.
 
alright tsue, dip the end of the tubing into the water, and push, push very hard, it will fit. trust me as being the member you consult with, ive dealt with 7/16th and 1/2in barbs. it can be a bitch, but you can force it on there. man up! use those arms!
 
Boil some water and soften the tubing. After that, force it on. It works beautifully.

If you use the 1/2'' barb you will also have less restriction.
 
You may have to melt the tubing a little to get it in. Try melting it. I know my friend had to melt his before getting it to fit over the 1/2 tubing
 
shouldnt hafta melt it, just get it hot, i never had issues getting my 7/16th on, gettign it off though, that was a freakin challenge!

Yeh, but at least you have peace of mind- that tubing isn't ever comin' off!

Btw, what parts did you buy? CCU could also answer this right?
 
yea i can answer this. hes getting a Swiftech 6002, single Rad with shroud, ehiem 1250, all 1/2in stuff.

Exactly what did you tell him to buy? a T for 1/2 ID tubing, or did you tell him to buy a T that had a 1/2 ID itself?
 
when it said "Barbed White Nylon Pipe Fitting 1/2" Pipe Size, Tee" i was assuming that it was meant to work with 1/2in ID tubing. and 7/16th will stread ocer 1/2in ID stuff.

Also, my next parts coming in are the Swiftech 6002 CPU block, the Eheim 1250 for the pump, and a Fan+Shroud+Rad (single fan). It's only going to be for my CPU so it should suffice for now, but I'll get a larger rad if I put my GTX on water (doubtful).

On the phone right now. So far, it seems that 1/2" "pipe size" means jack. It's some sort of industry standard that I guess "piping pros" would understand, but not common sense, as my measurements were correct. Also, the 7/16th ID is a weird one that's not generally used, and one that they don't even carry in their catalog, only online for those that need it. So, I'm sending back my tubing + t-line for full credit (and they're shipping out the parts before they get these back, so I'll have my new tubing tomorrow, wee!) and getting 1/2" ID tubing with 11/16ths OD (middle of the road) and a matched 1/2" (actual, not 'pipe size') single barb "tube to tube" T-Line. Idunno why the multiple barbs are the ones in pipe-size, but screw it. One barb and a clamp will own it.

Now, back to waiting again...
