I just built a new desk click me yesterday, and have the shuttle in the "digital dock". There really isn't a better place to put the system, as I have 2 laptops to contend with as well.
the rear of the desk is punched out, so it should be able to exhaust hot air, however the side panels are scorching! There is about 2" of space between the sidepanels and the desk.
The shuttle itself has mesh side panels, and the rear ICE is cut out.
the system's stable...but I've never felt the panels be anything but cool in the past.
Any ideas on a fix? I have no other place to move it to...
I'd been thinking about an "upgrade" to a tower system (although, likely a Dell PowerEdge 400SC due to the deals, and my caring less about OCing and more about having a good fast system to last me through the next iteration (dual core, etc.)
This would fix most of the cooling issues, as it'd pull air from the front, rather than the sides.
