Quick question:
Is allowin gyour computer to go into standyby mode hazardous to your HDD's?

I mean i set mine up so XP pro goes into standby mode if i'm idle for 45min.

Now is that perpetual powering up and powering down of the HDD's dangerous at all?

Never heard of such a thing being a problem.
When in Standby mode it saves all your apps and documents into memory

If you wake it up after every 46 minutes, yes. If you let it sleep for a good while, only waking it up a few times a day, it's not that big of a deal.

Well lets just say i dont do that anymore with my machines because my drives all liked to act weird. That maybe also attributed to maxtors weak drive motors, who knows.
