Hello,I recently sold my old gtx260 wich was sitting on a ga-p35-ds4 along with a E6750 and 4gigs of ram.I'm now planning to get a new vga mostly for incoming DX11 titles thus ressurecting my system a bit, since there is no budget for a new rig.Reason of this post is to get some opinions and help me decide what's the best choice.
So the vga's i'm thinking of are the following:
1)HD6870
2)HD6950 2gb
3)HD6950 1gb
4)Gtx460 1gb
5)HD5850 (used)

I'm gaming on a 22" monitor of 1680 res and occasionaly on 42" full hd tv.
At the moment I'm looking more into amd gpu's since i'm thinking i could try an eyefinity setup in the near future.Psu is corsair 620hx and cpu is going to be oc'ed to 3+ghz.

6950 2gb and unlock to 6970 seems to be the best option these days

your cpu is going to be holding you back, might be better to go with the 6870

HD6950 1GB or HD6870 at those resolutions. Could also consider Crossfire HD6850s, faster than anything else on two 6-pins.

I thought about that myself but ga-p35-ds4 doesnt support dual x16 cf it doesnt even use pci x-press 2.0 :p So instead of changing board i'd rather get a quad as Fourhundredfifty suggested

I checked some 3dmark11 results of simillar systems and there was almost 0 difference with my cpu and 6870 - 6950 2gb.So i dont know if there is any point getting the 6950 or even unlocking it :p

HD6850s on 8x PCIe1 slots actually works fine, I know someone that's done it.
Intresting i wonder how would they perform vs a single 6870/6950@x16 on pcie1 aswell
Do you knowany 3dmark11 results maybe or any framerates in some dx11 games?Oh and maybe what cpu he is using?

I'll believe it, despite the 6950 being significantly faster, any dual core cpu will be holding you back these days.

Hence, why I suggested the cheaper 6870.

Really should look to upgrade the rest at some point.
