I have never been able to restore my computer from a system restore point because, no matter what system i am on, it gives me an error saying that i cannot. i seem to be able to create them in windows Xp but i know that i will not be able to load it when my computer gets bogged down and sluggish. Is there anything obvious that i am doing wrong? Is there more to system restore points? I just have my computer at a good place with it virus and adware free. any suggestions?

are you doing this...

Start--->All Programs--->Accessories--->System tools--->System restore

Once in the program, check the box that says creat a restore point, then click next to give it a name. then you are done.

Are you doing all of that?
 
Norton Ghost. There's way too many people complaining that System Restore doesn't work.
 
Is system restore even turned on? bobsaget has a good idea even if it isnt. For some reason its disabled sometimes. You never find out until too late.
 
Yes bob i clicked the box to enable system restore and created a restore point (which i would call one step ;) ) but whenever my computer Fs up i have never been able to restore from the points that i had saved. It says that it is unable to and i think it says that it is "sorry for the inconvenience".

Guess i will try out that Norton Ghost.
 
System restore works flawlessly in most cases unless you have a bug as in a virus or more than lilekly a worm

the other possibility is that you dont have enough hard drive spac alotted
 
the only reason that i would restore is because of a aggressive virus or bug though. Is system restore not meant for such a thing?
 
restore to a point before the virus was contracted or you'll just restore the virus as well. This is why most of the time you must turn off system restore when eradicating a virus.
