i recently upgraded my memory from 1 gig to 2 gig and upgraded my video card also

now the system has been fine for a week now i noticed idel temp has raised alot

under bios (hardware monitor) the idel temp is 75c

and if i open BT and GOBOX toghter and open a game the system just reboot by itself

what is wrong?

memory? or vidoe card? or psu not enough power?

i have a 500 watt antec earthwatts
p4c800-e deluxe
3.2 p4
2 gig pc3200
sounblaster audigy 2
2 dvd rom
evga 512 7600gt agp

Virus? Trojan? Spyware? Overheating?

75 degrees seems a bit high for idle. Usually my computer is around 40 degrees or less... 75 is five degrees away from warning temp on my PC... Even when gaming the temp doesn't go above 60...

Check ventilation, check virus, and check spyware.

but would this cause reboot by itself ?

its like if i open BT and a game the system will just reboot

if its virus spyware will it cause overheat in bios?

the temp is lower in windows idel vs bios idel

I'd say a combination of overheating and maybe bad RAM. Run memtest86. Then if that passes, check out your thermal paste.

running memtest86 v3.4a now i'm gonna let it run till tomorrow morning
i hope its not memory problem

as thermal paste its the stock intel one and it was never removed so i dont think it came loose
do you think any hardware that i added can cause this problem?

What happens if you just start the game w/o BT? If the game is causing the system to crash then maybe you've got a driver conflict.

Come on guys. In his post he says the idle temp on his P4 is 75c . He has a problem there. The cpu is throttling and shutting down to prevent it from destroying its self.

NismoSkyline, Find out what the problem is with your cpu temperatures. You should be idling around 40c - 45c. Make sure the cpu heat sink fins are free of dust, and if need be buy some new thermal paste and reseat the cpu heat sink. That should fix the high temperatures your seeing and it will probably fix the random shut downs your getting.

everything was fine last week all this started yesterday

i will remove the heatsink today and check

but i know i didn't move anything

it will heat up to 76 within 5 min from a cold start

i did memtest86 and 5 pass no error

ok i took the heatsink out and clean it

lots of dust came off

all the vent are cleared up but................

as i boot up the system as usual it says new cpu installed

i was gonna go into bios eitherway so i went to hardware monitor again
to see the temp it says 85:eek:then 89 but my case's thermal monitor says 36?

i had the case's monitor dector close to the processor but not touching it so it its off
it should be no more than 5 degrees

and few seconds later after reach 89 the system shuts down by itself...........

i'm afraid to turn the system on agin now

It's probably set to restart at a certain temperature in BIOS.

75c @ idle is super high. Something is definitely wrong.

Which casing are you using?

i have a new problem if you see my latlest post

thax i wonder if i should just clean it off and get new thermal pad

i got a new heat sink and now its running at 43 idel

much much better but does anyone know if softeware conflict can cause system to reboot

While software conflicts can and will cause reboots, I doubt you're *that* unlucky.

Test and see if the game works now. If it does, then you've probably fixed the problem. If not, um... Go see a fortune teller?

Did u put on new paste after you reseated the heatsink? I know you got a new one but I was just curious.
