The system in my sig has started to randomly reboot,(I am running the latest mobo bios) sometimes it does it when first booted and just idling on the desktop. No blue screen, just a reboot.

Here's a look at my event log which repeats as followed:

Level: Error / Event id: 7026
The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:
UsbCharger

Level: Error / Event id: 6008
The previous system shutdown at 10:24:32 AM on ‎10/‎13/‎2014 was unexpected.

Level: warning / Event id: 27
Intel(R) Ethernet Connection I217-V
Network link is disconnected.

Level: Critical / Event id: 41
The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.

Now it seems to be doing it more often... it now will even reboot before/when posting and another time while windows was loading; so it can't be a driver issues.

Also twice now it has rebooted, then while booting up tried to reboot before POST and got to a point where it wouldn't power on unless I cut the switch on PSU and waited a few seconds.

Now I'm leaning towards a bad PSU or MOBO

Ok...

I was having the same issues..I have a Gigabyte Gaming 7 Z97X. with a 4790..was getting random reboots in games mostly..mainly BF4..thought it was just the game..then it happened in Borderlands 2...I had the newest Bios on Gigabyte's page...but I found these Bios's..and the problem seems to be gone..

Maybe you can use one of these..

Yeah I tried that. 6 hours no errors. I went to MC last night and got a new PSU, I'll put that in today or tomorrow.

So I haven't installed the new PSU yet, but it rebooted again and I'm now thinning its the mobo.

Now here's where it get interesting (and why I think its the mobo) Sometimes after it reboots, it will try to reboot before POSTing and end up just completely powering down. When this happens the power switch on the case does nothing and the power button on the mobo is lite-up but also does nothing. The only way I can get the system to power back on is if I hit the Clear CMOS button; as soon as I hit the Clear CMOS button the system powers on. OR if I cut off the power at the PSU and wait till the light on the mobo powers off then the case SW will work.

Well I installed my replacement mobo last night and within the first hour it rebooted on me twice :( And on one of the reboots it did the thing where case switch (or on-board pw sw) would do nothing until I completely cut the power from the system or hit the CMOS reset button.

It has to be the PSU? & when the switch doesn't work its because its tripping a safe fail feature?

Curious as to why you didn't test that out 7 days ago, but yeah I'd say an issue like this is often one of three things: Memory, MOBO, or PSU is bad.

Well originally I thought it was the PSU but when the case/mobo switches were unresponsive (even /w mobo light on) it made me 2nd guess myself... I should have went with my original thought, new PSU installed and no more reboots :)
