System overheating

Hi everyone I'm new to the forum and I'm also a new computer builder. So please bear with me. I've been having all sorts of problems with my video card; all my applications are fine, but when I decide to play UT2004 or any other game for that matter it will freeze up and then I have to shut down the system. It will not let me boot up in windows until after its cooled down for at least 15min. Now I've checked the power supply ok, ram ok, CPU ok,MOBO ok, the only other thing I can think of that the video card is overheating and reason being is that everytime I take the side panel off it seems to work fine for hours.
Now I need a suggestion on what anyone might think what it might be, also maybe any recomendations on cooling devices for my card. Thank you

Are you oc'ing anything? Also, have you tried installing any motherboard monitoring software?

You should be able to see the temperature of that video card in the display applet and set an alarm if it reaches *user define* degrees.

I'd try those things first and do a test run to see where you stand temp wise with every component just to make sure it is indeed the v-card.

Hello dirtydr, no i'm not OCing anything. Any suggestions on where ad what software to install? To check for the temp on all components.
