system hardlocks at random when exiting a game

i dont know if this is a video card issue, or a psu issue.

if i run a game for long periods of time, (say... 3hrs+) theres a chance it may hardlock my system when it gets back to the desktop. and its 100% random. i can alt-tab back and forth all day long, but when i hit close.... im wondering if it has something to do with powering off the 2nd video card on exit.

temps are fine, highest recorded on cpuid is 65c on the top card. cpu temps are fine too, highest recorded there is 58.

psu is also getting up there is age, its an old BFG ES-800, so its possible it could be spiking or something when that 2nd card turns off.
