Well Last night I was surfing the net scrolling down for a long time on a long page. (Had winamp playing music, AIM and another Explorer open) Anyways The system would all of a sudden hang like it crashed. screen was frozen, no mouse movement. After 20-30 seconds the screen refreshed ( like changing res from res that part where the monitor turns itself off then restarts and u hear that click) Anyways then everything goes back to normal then about 2 mins later when i kept scrolling down it happened again. Anyone know what the problem is.

Fyi everything is at stock setting..
All replies greatly appreciated..

It's a longshot, but do you happen to have a spare monitor lying around? A friend of mine with a Mac has a similar problem and he found out his monitor was dying.

that sounds like a vid card issue. check your vid card to ensure it is seated properly, and the power plugs to it are seated too. run some vid tests.
Make sure the monitor connection is not loose.
make sure your mouse connection is not loose.
double check for overheating of the vid card (and everything else...)
Turn off Winamp and see if prob goes away. (sometimes older winamps will "hang" when looking for a song on its list and it is not located where winamp is looking...)
update IE - if you havent recently. Heck, stop using it all together and try firefox.
Run Spybot search & destroy and Adaware (both freeware) to ensure you have not been malwared (which can slow internet connects)
make sure your connection to the net is proper. IF you have comcast cable and a modem, say, over two years old, it could be that - as the older modems have difficulty syncing with the new 6mb thruput. Do a thruput test.
Double check your connects between the network card (or usb) and cable modem and your cable boxen (or dsl line)
IF that does not help - turn off your modem for 30 minutes then back on - resets the connection.
IF these don't fix the problem, clear your cmos and check your power supply.
