My computer is freezing up like every ten minutes and then I have to reboot. I reformatted and reinstalled XP but it still does it. Does anyone know what is likely to be the cause of this?

Heat? Memory? PSU? Could be a couple of things, why dont you list your specs?

Yea most likely heat issues, make sure that nothing is blocking your cpu fan, and make sure that the fan is actually spinning. If thats good, check overall case ventalation

another call for heat - make sure your HSF fan is spinning and the heatsink makes good contact with the CPU...

check all the fans while you're at it, though if any that's probably the most likely; however, most mobos have a thing where they scream at you if the CPU fan stops, so you probably should have realized if that was it by now :p

Thanks for the help with this. The system now will not even boot past the start up screen. Before it totally crapped out the monitor showed that the CPU was not overheating. All fans were working properly as well. 'm thinking of just going ahead and getting a new mobo/cpu/memory as it is about time to upgrade anyway. Does anyone know what a good cheap setup would be (as cheap as possible). I just bought a laptop recently so I can't afford to spend alot onthis. Thanks.
