I need to move a HDD from a Duron to a P4.

Sysprep does not work, it freezes on boot, just a blinking cursor.

It seems to me I might have a HAL issue

Any ideas?

Reinstall is the cleanest, but you can do a sysprep and change the HAL as stated. I have had it work a few times, and not work on others

Care to share?

I uninstalled video, sound and network drivers, IDE

I redid sysprep. I used the -bmsd option to recreate the mass storage drivers (I did this the first time)

I made the switch and on bootup it apparently freezed at the first screen. I rebooted and it took a long time, maybe 10+ minutes but setup started. HAL was changed automatically.
