Syntax Olevia 30" LCD

I got my 30" Syntax @ Microcenter for around $1350 w/ Tax, I have an OTA HDTV Receiver on the way so will post some more pics when it gets here.

I was tempted to wait for the 26" Syntax as I wanted a black display and the 32" would be out of my price range, but the extra screen realistate between a 27" and this 30" is nice to have. I SO wish I would have had the money for it when they were $999, thats a smokin deal for this display.

The display mentioned earlier from Costco, the Sceptre, got some really nice reviews but I think in a couple threads on the AVS forums their was some question to the quality control on the newer units. Still worth a shot if your a member already since Costco has a VERY nice return policy, if your not happy with the unit after 6-12 months you can just return it, I guess they will even refund the shipping fee.

Whats differences are there between the 27" and the 30"? Just the size?

There are 27" for like $900-$1000 on ebay, I think i'll just go for one of those.

I purchased my 27 inch Olevia for 899.99 (on sale, normal price is 1099.99) from Frys on the 17th of December. I was using a Dell 23 inch HDTV LCD Monitor but it has issues with XBOX under 480P. Had to sell the unit after 15 days. I sold the unit for a loss and purchased the Olevia. Awesome unit for the money, cannot be beat. I use the unit for PC, XBOX (480P) , and Comcast HDTV DVR/Reciever (1080I/720P). PC games run flawlessly, DOOM3 and Half Life 2. Half Life 2 supports Widescreen which simply ROCKS! FYI: For those of you without an access to Frys. You can purchase from Frys at outpost.com for around 999.99 (last I checked).

If someone wants a Hi-Res. I want it.... but are the speakers removable? they better be, I dont want 4-5 extra inches of space for cheap speakers

Does anyone know if you can work a salesman at a store based on commission? I know that Ultimate Electronics actually employs "salespeople" to sell product. Hmmmm.... I wonder what the markup is on such displays. I bet I could get one for cheap. :cool:
 
The employees at Microcenter where I purchased mine were on commision, I only was able to get them to budge $30 off the sale price of $1279, but $30 is better than nothing. The speakers are removable on the 27 and 30" Models, they are silver, the one you posted is a 32" I believe, they are new models with even more impressive specs than the 27" and 30" currently out. Will be interesting to see how well they perform. I've had mine (30") for a few weeks now and still love it, waiting for my HD Box to come in the mail still though.

Anyone know if the black fascia 26'' LCD thats coming out later this year has removable speakers? Thanks.
 
BTW, what's your timings to get it to 1280 x 768? Haven't had luck getting mine there yet. Got mine at Fry's in Dallas for a steal...$777
