Synology 411J

Are you sure it is not a network issue? Have you tried running jperf or any benchmarking tools? How are you connected to it? Whats your network look like?

General rule of thumb with NAS= Seperate PCIE Intel based gigabit nic in your computer, cat 5e cables, and a decent switch. You should be maxing out the network connection before you are maxing out the NAS.

Disclaimer: I do not have that NAS or hard drives, it very well could be a performance issue due to the greenpower drives.

my network is all 1 gigabit.

Cat6 cabels all around i can send from one computer to another with around 90 mb's but the NAS will only receive with 35 mb's but can send with 80+
so i know its not the network at all.

I own a 411j as well on a gigabit network and i max at 38 or so as well. not just you.
