I don't know if this problem revolves around my hardware or the OS but... my computer lately has been shutting down when it begins to do anything strenous. It will only boot to the welcome screen and won't keep unless you shake the mouse vigorously. Has ever happened to anyone before?

Boot to cmos and check to see if reboot on error is enabled. Disable it. That will give you time to determine a cause if you its software.

Make sure you have scaned for trojans and viruses.

I do suspect you have a pws issue. More often that not a pwer supply whose voltage is dropping will cause such enomalies

85 % of all hardware related issues are caused by bad pws.

Most hardware newbies are unaware of this statistic. Just like most hardware newbies actualy believe that th e pwer supply that came with thier 39 dollar case actualy puts out 400 watts lol.

Even with the best pwoer supply you can have issues from "noise "unless you are using an apc with line conditioning.

Your systems power supply and subsequent choice there of is as important as your CPU. ITs all about the fundamentals.

I had a guy in a forum that was having issues iwth a radeon 8500 he had tried everything. I recomended a better power supply after hearing his system specs. Everyone laughed. The next day he posted problem solved after moving to an ANtec.

Specifically in this case the guys pws could be fluctuating voltages to the point where his system memory is bailing on him.
