What do the symbols mean?

Under system preferences/keyboard &mouse/keyboard short cuts there are lots of options that can be accomplished via keystrokes. However I do not see a legend that explains what these symbols are.

Will someone please direct me to an article that defines these symbols.

In the absence of that

– In the capture screen to clipboard, there is a goofy looking symbol that is the same as the apple key, got that, but next there is a carrot thing pointing up? What does that mean?
– In the turn zoom on or off, there is apple key and then I have no clue what the diagonal thingy is?
– The up arrow is shift I guess, so that is about it.

TIA

Ok, I'm sure you aren't this dumb, but from the explination you are giving, it sounds like this.

The up carrot is the thing above the six when you press shift.

The diagnally thing is the slash either below the question mark or below the vertical line(on the key above enter/return)

If this isn't it, can you send screen shots of what they look like?

It's on your keyboard somewhere. Can't get it to work here, but I have to use Shift to type it, which probably mess it up.

Alt. Between the apple button and ctrl.

Oh, shoops, I didn't get the part about it being a Mac. my bad :D

Not to worry. If I was dumb enough not to read everything that was written, I would probably have the same reaction.

There must be a lot of bored little kiddies on this forum if a question elicits such a knee-jerk response.

I do give you credit for re-reading and recognising your errors.

for future reference...

Nice job! Thank you so much for the info. Nah, caps lock isn't strange - remember the Stevie saying for Apple..Think different! And talking about different, Intel to not only supply chips but MB also? That is different.

Cheers,
